Grizzlies Racing Teams up for Vehicle Dynamics Measurements

Oakland FSAE team, Grizzlies Racing, teams up with EZMetrology for instrumentation challenges

February 2025, Detroit (USA)

FSAE Competition

Formula SAE is an international collegiate design series designed to take students beyond the textbook or classroom by providing them with the opportunity to design, build, and compete with a real-world vehicle. Students gain many valuable skills through the program, such as creativity and innovation in problem solving, project management, teamwork, and practical application of engineering. Teams earn points through both Static off-track presentations, as well as their Dynamic on-track performance. This means that teams are ranked both by understanding and application of engineering principals as well as their ability to bring those concepts into the real world.

Instrumentation Challenge

The challenge of evaluating design choices is to find ways to measure the key contributors and quantify performance indicators. A tight collaboration in the team between design, simulation and instrumentation will define the objectives to monitor different vehicle dynamic aspects such as brake performance, handling, suspension setup, and tire related questions. The road data will assist in validating the simulations and open doors to improve simulations for future design challenges. And finally, students will gain a glimpse into industrial metrology, signal processing, the effects of reading, understanding, and applying data.

Road Ahead

The motivation of Grizzlies Racing Team, combined with the expertise of EZMetrology industrial sensors and signal processing for vehicle dynamics seem like a great opportunity for all. The students will deploy new PACK technologies and master the art of instrumentation and signal processing. On behalf of the EZMetrology team, we wish the Grizzlies Racing team all the best for 2025 season!
