New regulations are in place to limit noise from trucks or commercial vehicles when delivering in urban areas. While this regulation also covers engine or drive noises, it also applies to the operation of doors or hatches on the vehicles. So, for a vehicle to be eligible for urban deliveries, strict noise standards must be met. This brings the requirement to EZMetrology technology when it comes to door systems.
EZSlam for Characteristics
Door operation will generate significant impact noises, when the door system is hard to close, and door slam speeds are required to latch the door. EZSlam technology was used to characterize the different door systems. This includes to hinge and door check system, the sela compression, the air management and so on. The benchmarking allowed to have a wide variety of configurations.
SpeedPod for Noise Recording
This step is followed by specialized noise measurement where Speed Pod technology is used to identify the different sound levels in function of closing speed. The combination of all information provided a unique insight in optimal door design to meet the new standards.
