Quantify the effect of a vibrating frameless window when opening the door.

The more popular frameless designs face new challenges as these door types are now implemented on larger SUV vehicles. The classic sports car always enjoyed smaller window heights. The large free-floating glass is subject to a variety of constraints, or lack thereof, during the operation of the door. The preload, the fitting, the movement, the penetration in the seals all combined seem to push the limits of acceptable quality

How to Measure?

The SpeedPod or EnergyPod is mounted on the window. In a normal measurement cycle of opening and closing the door, the gauge will evaluate the shaking during the first degrees of opening. The amplitude of the shake is calculated and reported. As this amplitude will be a function of the opening speed, the correlation or speed compensation is made to provide a repeatable number.

Technology

The sensors will capture the vibration, and the advanced algorithms will subtract the movement of the door and report the relative shaking of the window. The signal can be visualized using IOManager as a function of time or the gauge can simply provide the amplitude for a true value evaluation or a criteria for Go-NoGo process check.
