SealScan is a compact and lightweight 2D scanning system that provides fast and accurate measurements of mating surface or cross sections. Nondestructive technology can be used on finished assemblies without any need to remove seals or trim to measure the seal gap. The laser scanner captures the shape and location of seals, trim and body elements. An easy-to-analyze 2D cross section can be compared to a nominal CAD section and dimensioned accordingly.
Application
The typical application is to understand the seal gap geometry. Assisting in the conclusion if the body in white assembled correctly such as door placement in the body. It identifies as well if the seals or trim elements are dimensionally correct when it comes to shape and size. Other applications are also bumper compression and latch alignment. Extended application also includes when the questions can be measured and dimensioned as a cross section. This could be assemblies such as trim panels, charging doors.
Features
The mounting is based on adjustable suction cups that provide a flexible yet solid support point. The alignment and measurement procedure can be completed in a couple of minutes. The simple and efficient 2D measurement software allows to visualize and dimension the measured cross section. If available, the results can be compared to a CAD model of the section.
