It was clear at that time that most manufacturers were using in-house tools and often a collection of gauges to characterize a door. It was proof of creativity and need for a answer to the questions regarding door systems. The toolbox often included an accelerometer, a load cell, in some cases a pressure gauge and it is not uncommon to fall back on complicated tracking systems. The need was clear.
Prototype
Building a system from scratch does present several hurdles. Sensor choices, hardware design, software design, procedures. Often exploring the unknown. At the end of the first iteration, a working solution was there. Exciting to perform the first studies, present the technology to the lucky few in the Detroit area. It was quickly visible we were on to something however it will take the team at that time, a few more long days and nights to stitch all the data together and develop the analytical part
